STAPLES Center is in its 19th year and has undoubtedly developed an unrivaled reputation for excellence having established itself as the Sports and Entertainment Center of the World.
Beginning with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s opening night concert on October 17, 1999, more than 50 million guests have come to the AEG-owned and operated STAPLES Center to attend a schedule of prestigious concerts, sporting events, award shows, family shows and other major attractions unmatched by any arena.
As the home of four professional sports franchises, the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, STAPLES Center has proven to be a home court advantage for the local teams with the Lakers capturing five NBA Championships and the Kings winning two Stanley Cup titles since 1999, while the Sparks captured back-to-back WNBA Championships in their first two STAPLES Center campaigns and brought home their third WNBA Championship in June 2016.
STAPLES Center continues to distinguish itself as the host of major, high-profile events of national and international distinction including the 2004, 2011 & 2018 NBA All-Star Weekends, the 2002 & 2017 NHL All-Star Games and 2010 NHL Draft, 2002 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the 2000 Democratic National Convention, 2009 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, 17 of the last 19 GRAMMY Award shows, 11 X Games competitions, four WTA Tour Championships, 12 Pac 12 Men’s Basketball Championship tournaments, 2013 & 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship West Regional and the Michael Jackson Public Memorial Service on July 7, 2009.

AEG 1Community seeks to reach beyond the traditional boundaries of business to support the communities where the organization operates. AEG believes that corporate philanthropy and community engagement play a critical role in helping communities thrive and STAPLES Center strives to be civic leaders by working to improve the economic and social well-being of local communities where the company operates. Over the last 10 years, company-affiliated foundations and programs have contributed over $120 million in direct financial and in-kind support of charitable, community and civic programs that focus on children and youth in the areas of education, the arts and health and wellness. During this time, STAPLES Center’s philanthropic reach has impacted local organizations such as 10th Street Elementary, Inner City Arts, Salvation Army Red Shield Youth & Community Center, The Midnight Mission, and several local hospitals. Anchor tenants including the LA Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Sparks are known for assisting in and creating once in a lifetime fundraising opportunities and experiences for numerous local non-profit partners and community members.
STAPLES Center and L.A. LIVE serve as the hub for community engagement during the holiday season and support employee volunteerism activities such as a company-wide Day of Service. Through a partnership with City Year, employees volunteer to refurbish local public schools by providing supplies, painting, cleaning and gardening services. During AEG’s Season of Giving, held throughout the month of December, the foundation spotlights more than two dozen local charities and community-based organizations and provides non-profits a platform to collect food, hold blood drives, register volunteers, educate the public and sign up mentors.
STAPLES Center has been designed with the fans of Los Angeles in mind. Guests who attend events are treated to the finest entertainment experience imaginable. The arena has free public Wi-Fi, over 840 Toshiba flat panel televisions and (as part of a specially designed $1.5 million facility-wide sound system) and 675 separate speakers outside of the seating area, so fans never miss any of the sights or sounds of a STAPLES Center event. Also featured is a $2 million specialty lighting package and other state-of-the-art amenities. In 2010, STAPLES Center unveiled its new $10 million center-hung video LIVE 4HD Scoreboard specially designed for the arena.
Along STAPLES Center’s five concourses are 23 refreshment stands offering a variety of dining choices including the Smokehouse BBQ on City View Terrace, a one-of-a-kind outdoor dining experience with a spectacular view of L.A. LIVE and the downtown Los Angeles skyline. The TEAM LA store located on the main concourse is a retail store featuring official merchandise from the teams and events that call STAPLES Center home with satellite locations throughout the facility and L.A. LIVE. Finally, the arena provides 55 public restrooms including three family restrooms.
Perhaps the greatest emphasis throughout STAPLES Center’s development has been the recruitment and training of its guest services and security staff. The STAPLES Center experience is second-to-none from the entertainment environment to the staff’s commitment to making every guest’s visit a memorable one. STAPLES Center continues to set new standards for the arena industry. Located directly across the street from STAPLES Center is L.A. LIVE, a one-of-a-kind sports and entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles. The four million square foot destination features Microsoft Theater, The GRAMMY Museum, Conga Room and The Novo by Microsoft, giving L.A. LIVE ‘more music per square foot’ than any other location in the world. The district offers a rich mix of local, regional and national restaurants including Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill, Rosa Mexicano, Yard House, Katsuya, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Rock 'N Fish, Lawry's Carvery, Live Basil Pizza, Tom’s Urban, Smashburger, Red Mango, Triple 8 China Bar & Grill, Starbucks, BOCA at the Conga Room, WP24 and others. L.A. LIVE also features 100,000 square feet of special event and hospitality space and the famous Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge. The development also includes a 54-story, 1,001-room convention “headquarters” hotel (combining JW Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton brands and 224 luxury condominiums – The Ritz Carlton Residences at L.A. LIVE.), the 14-screen Regal L.A. LIVE: A Barco Innovation Center theater featuring the RealD Premiere Cinema, along with ESPN's West Coast broadcast headquarters.
