Sets Venue Record as Highest Grossing Family Show In STAPLES Center's History

September 30, 2008 — WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - The Live Experience finished its run at STAPLES Center with the show's third-best gate receipt total on its North American Tour, earning $3.28 million in 8 shows (Sept. 25-28). The total was third only to the Honda Center in Anaheim, which finished with $3.3 Million in gross ticket revenue over 10 shows, and New York's Madison Square Garden, which finished with $4.8 million in gross ticket revenue over 12 shows. STAPLES Center's 4-day 8-show run averaged over $407,000 per show, in which all eight shows were sold-out performances, and also set the venue record for the highest grossing family show in the nine year history of the venue. WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - The Live Experience has played 48 North American markets thus far.

"STAPLES Center along with our partners at AEG Live were incredibly honored and proud to host eight sold-out shows of Walking with Dinosaurs - The Live Experience for the first time in Los Angeles," said Lee Zeidman, Sr. Vice President and General Manager of STAPLES Center. "We host over 250 events each year, and I must say Walking with Dinosaurs is truly one of the most unique and educational shows we have ever hosted, and we have received nothing but positive feedback from those who were lucky enough to experience one of the shows this past weekend."

Carmen Pavlovic, CEO, Creature Production Company, said, "This is a remarkable achievement especially given that the engagement was only four days. We owe our gratitude to our partners at STAPLES Center and AEG Live for ensuring that everyone knew about the dinosaurs coming to Los Angeles. I am sure that with this overwhelming response, we will be back."

"AEG Live was incredibly excited to be a part of this record-breaking performance run, and to bring this amazing show to Los Angeles and STAPLES Center," Susan Rosenbluth, Sr. Vice President, AEG Live. "There is no other show out there like it right now, and we feel privileged to have been apart of this incredible live entertainment experience."

To date, over 1,500,000 people have seen the show in cities across the US and Canada since the tour opened in July 11, 2007 in Tacoma, Washington. The tour has grossed over 70 million dollars overall. Another 90,000 people have purchased tickets for future dates.

Dinosaurs return to the earth in a live theatrical arena show, WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - The Live Experience, based on the award-winning BBC Television Series. In WALKING WITH DINOSAURS, fifteen roaring, snarling "live" dinosaurs mesmerize the audience - and are as awe-inspiring as when they first walked on earth.

WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - The Live Experience has been seen in The Today Show, Regis and Kelly, Good Morning America and has been written about in Newsweek, The New York Times, the Christian Science Monitor and the Wall St. Journal. It is the subject of a Discovery Channel Really Big Things episode and was a video clue category on a recent Jeopardy episode. The production has won the 2007 THEA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Touring Event. The THEAs recognize excellence in the creation of compelling educational, historical, and entertainment projects

WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - The Live Experience is brought to North America by The Creature Production Company, headed by CEO Carmen Pavlovic.

Ten species are represented from the entire 200 million year reign of the dinosaurs. The show depicts the dinosaurs' evolution, complete with the climatic and tectonic changes that took place, which led to the demise of many species. With almost cinematic realism, WALKING WITH DINOSAURS has scenes of the interactions between dinosaurs, and the audience sees how carnivorous dinosaurs evolved to walk on two legs, and how the herbivores fended off their more agile predators.

The New York Times said that dinosaurs are making "a thundering comeback after 65 million years." Newsweek called the show, "that rare entertainment beast that parents and kids can enjoy together." Variety said, "'WALKING WITH DINOSAURS' is a truly spectacular. The dinosaurs are stunning, life-size and faultlessly nimble."

Artistic Director William May developed the creative vision of the show based on an original idea by entrepreneur Bruce Mactaggart to create an arena version of the "WALKING WITH DINOSAURS" television series.

A talented and experienced team of creative artists came together to produce "WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - The Live Experience." The show is directed by Scott Faris, a Broadway veteran who has worked side by side with Harold Prince, Trevor Nunn, Michael Blakemore, Gene Saks, John Caird, Tommy Tune and Jerry Zaks. The creatures are designed and built by Sonny Tilders; the set and projected image design are by Peter England; the show's lighting is by John Rayment, our score was composed by James Brett; and Warner Brown wrote the script.

Tim Haines, creator and producer of the original BBC series, which was seen by a worldwide audience of 700 million, serves as Project Consultant to WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - The Live Experience. WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - The Live Experience was originally produced in Australia by Gerry Ryan, Malcolm Cooke and Jill Bryant and is brought to North America by The Creature Production Company.
