STAPLES Center to Add a Variety of Vegetarian Options to Concessions Menu for Fans Attending March 1 Morrissey Concert

Venue Named 'NBA's Most Vegetarian-Friendly Arena' By PETA For Variety of Choices and 'Awesome Vegetarian Fare'

LOS ANGELES (February 19, 2013) - At the request of Morrissey, a long-time animal activist and vegetarian, STAPLES Center will be adding a variety of vegetarian food items to those already offered at concession stands throughout the arena for his upcoming March 1 concert it was announced by Lee Zeidman, Sr. Vice President and General Manager, STAPLES Center and L.A. LIVE.

Additionally, STAPLES Center's management will be reaching out to restaurants across the street at L.A. LIVE to suggest adding special vegetarian options to their menus for the evening and will also be contacting PETA to offer them the ability to set-up an information booth on the Main Concourse to interact with guests attending the sold-out concert.

"As we have done in the past, we are happy to create a menu with a greater variety of vegetarian items for our guests who prefer these types of options," said Zeidman. "We respect Morrissey's lifestyle and his concern for the wishes of so many of his fans and are happy that we are able to honor his requests in this manner."

Among the vegetarian and meatless items offered at STAPLES Center's concession stands on March 1 will be Vegan Sloppy Joes, Grilled Veggie Sandwich, Cheese Pizza, Vegan Sushi, Cheese Nachos, Veggie Burgers, Veggie Wraps, Pasta, salads and a hummus-and-pita plate served along with STAPLES Center's regular menu of favorites.

As STAPLES Center has previously coordinated on behalf of artists who have played the building, including Sir Paul McCartney, all backstage catering will be 100% meatless throughout the evening.

Last week, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) named STAPLES Center as the NBA's "Most Vegetarian-Friendly Arena" following a survey of all 29 arenas and commending the downtown Los Angeles venue for its "awesome vegetarian fare."
